(HGTV) Home and Garden Television 2011 Halloween Block Party. Behind-the-Scenes with JennKL Photography

I'm excited to share some photos that I took of the 2011 HGTV Halloween Block Party. Since the show aired this past weekend on HGTV, I am now able to share some photos I took while working as the on set photographer for the show. Hope you enjoy this behind-the-scenes look. Also, hope you were able to see the show...lots of great ideas for Halloween decorations. This was a fast-paced exciting assignment. (Side note...It was fun to be back on set,  I was a television producer off and on for 10 years, so familiar setting, different job). As the photographer, I think I was running for 12 hours a day for 3 days straight. Just me to cover the before and after shots of three different homes, all the step-by-step projects, family portraits, host headshots, and did I mention there were THREE different homes to run to and from making sure not to miss a moment. I compared it to shooting 3 weddings all at one time all by myself. Any photographers out there will know this is quite an undertaking. But I made it and it felt like a huge accomplishment. I can't wait to do it again!  Thank you to the awesome producer Bob Gustafson for this opportunity. Enjoy just a few of my favorites. There were over a thousand images when all was said and done, too many to post here :-) ...

Here is the write up directly from the HGTV website: "Three families and three designers are given three days to transform a quiet cul-de-sac into one amazing Halloween Block Party! All the designs are based on classic Hollywood horror movie themes. The winning family will take home a $2500 cash prize. Designer Antonio Ballatore creates the ultimate Mad Scientist Lab. Designer Kristin Peake turns her house into a Slasher Motel where you check in, but you never check out. And John Gidding converts his house into a realistic and spooky Salem Witch hunt! At the end of three hectic and fun-filled days, host Monica Pedersen will reveal the winner of the $2500 grand prize."
